Keynote Speaker: Pat Phelan, Entrepreneur
Pat Phelan began his career as an apprentice butcher and chef, but soon discovered his true calling as an entrepreneur. Pat has founded four firms, managed several others, and won multiple accolades including 2008 Internet Visionary and 2010 Technology Blogger of the Year. His success lies in experimenting with new opportunities, learning to spot the best options, and building on both success and failure.
Pat’s newest venture, Trustev, conducts real-time online identity verification to help reduce ecommerce fraud – creating a ‘social fingerprint’ – using data from services such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. This week Trustev has been named as the top technology startup in Europe. It was presented with the award in London as part of the European Commission’s Tech All Star initiative. The company, which is headquartered in Cork, was last month named as overall winner at the Global technology Leaders Summit in San Francisco, and also as one of the 30 global finalists at Techcrunch Disrupt NY 2013.
