Sports Manager Outlines Six Ingredients for Success
5 May 2015: Limerick Senior Hurling Manager, TJ Ryan, encouraged business leaders attending the Limerick Chamber Spring Business Lunch on 30 April to show true leadership by being positive and supportive of their teams, as well as their business counterparts and the Limerick region.
Over 150 people attended the Bank of Ireland sponsored lunch which took place in the Castletroy Park Hotel.
Introducing TJ Ryan, Limerick Chamber President Catherine Duffy said, “Managers everywhere want teams that are effective, focused and committed to company goals. So a manager’s key task is to keep the team motivated. But garnering loyalty and commitment from employees can be a challenge. “
Delivering his speech TJ Ryan said, “Managers need to stay positive and support their team in order to get the most out of them. The same can be said for how the business community works together and indeed for Limerick. The TLC campaign and the #LimerickandProud campaign are just two shining examples of how we deliver more when we are all committed to the same cause.”
TJ Ryan then outlined his six ingredients for success both on and off the field. They included; creating the right culture, having the right people in the right roles, delegating, setting individual and team goals to keep everyone focused, being the best you can be and commitment.
As sponsors of the event, Mark Cunningham, Bank of Ireland, said, “We are here to support business expansion and growth. In our latest national survey, the number one investment item for SMEs to drive growth for their business was increasing staff headcount by one person. We are here to lend. And we are eager to play a pivotal role in the regeneration and revitalisation of the Limerick economy.”
Dr James Ring, Limerick Chamber CEO, said, “We were delighted to see so many companies and business sectors represented at our bicentennial lunch. We organise these events to give our members the opportunity to step outside the box, to listen and be inspired by our keynote speaker, expand their network, meet potential clients, and share ideas and issues with peers. In other words, giving members the tools to bring more focus to their business and tips to succeed.”
