Cathal Treacy and Martin Shanahan address Chamber Dinner
Limerick Chamber 200th Anniversary Officially Launched
A prosperous, strong region depends on everyone working together. This was the message from Cathal Treacy, President of Limerick Chamber when he addressed over 400 plus of the region’s top senior business and government officials at the Limerick Chamber President’s dinner at the Strand Hotel on Friday night (21/11/14) and called on them to “recognise that there is strength in collaboration” and to “become a champion for our region.”
During his speech he set out the many positive developments for the region over the last 18 months but noted that the “next phase of our journey to prosperity is about to embark” and “a prosperous, strong region depends on us working together and each doing our part.”
Keynote speaker Martin Shanahan echoed the sentiment saying “Limerick and its hinterland are enjoying a period of new confidence helped by the recent phenomenal investment announcements. While IDA Ireland has been involved, this is largely due to the partnership approach being taken by stakeholders in the region. We have a good pipeline at IDA Ireland, and we are looking forward to many more announcements in Limerick in the months and years to follow.”
During the very well-attended gala evening, Cathal Treacy unveiled Limerick Chambers new 200th anniversary logo. In 2015, Limerick Chamber will celebrate its 200th year and has planned a year-long celebration programme for its bicentennial year.
The President’s Dinner also featured the Limerick Chamber Regional Business Awards, sponsored by LIT, for the fourth year running. Eight companies were presented with awards. Click here for further details.
The President’s Award was presented to Des O’Malley for playing a key role in bringing job-creating foreign investment into Limerick region and nationally while serving as Minister for Industry and Commerce. “The internationalised business environment Limerick businesses enjoy today is a consequence of the foresight and vision of Des O’Malley,” noted Cathal Treacy on presenting the award.
