Fiver Friday good for local business

Limerick City Business Association and Limerick Chamber are encouraging local Limerick businesses to take part in this year’s ‘Fiver Friday’ which takes place across the country on December 6th.

The initiative which is run by RTE’s Liveline with Joe Duffy uses a basic principle to encourage shoppers to spend an extra fiver locally via whatever offers or deals businesses may deem appropriate.

Nigel Dugdale of Limerick City Business Association said, “For those who can make an effort this initiative can provide a much needed boost to business. A number of local Limerick businesses took part last year and the general feedback was immensely positive.  Not only does Fiver Friday give businesses the opportunity to drive a bit more footfall, it also allows a little fun to be had in the process”, he added.

Already a number of city centre businesses have signed up to take part in Limerick’s Fiver Friday on December 6th. Businesses include Jack Fitzgerald Electrical, George Boutique Hotel, Southill Area Centre, Widdess Pharmacy, Lawless Flowers, Upper William St Traders and Wacky Shoes with many more expected to come on board over the next few weeks. Specific offers will also be marketed across local social media platforms as well as the Liveline programme itself.

Helen O’Donnell, Chairperson of Limerick City Business Association notes that Fiver Friday can cater for any type of Business in Limerick City. “Previous offers included things as diverse as architect’s consultations, pet health checks, eye tests and legal consultations. We encourage all businesses in Limerick city to consider taking part in this initiative and look forward to seeing a thriving day in Limerick City on December 6th”, she said.
