Limerick Chamber AGM took place in Limerick Chamber on Thursday 23rd February. James Ring, CEO highlighted that the Chamber’s focus is on delivering expertise led events. James also noted that the key policy priorities for 2017 are; ‘The M20, O’Connell St., Northern Distributor Road, N69, Skill needs, broadband and housing requirements. He has also recently formed a new strategic partnership with Retail Excellence Ireland which will really help the Retailers in the city.’
In addition to updating members on Limerick Chamber’s annual activity and the presentation of accounts, the AGM was the occasion to appoint new Directors to the Board for 2017. This year four directors retired by rotation – Helen O’Donnell, Dolmen Catering, Liam Dwan, Brown Thomas, Sean Lally, Woodstock Hotel and David Jeffreys, Action Point Technology Group, James Greenslade of LIT who was co-opted in 2015/2016 also saw his term come to an end.
3 new directors have been elected to the board, namely Liam Brown, LIT, Donnacha Hurley, Absolute Hotel, James Ryan, Centra were appointed incoming new Directors and David Jeffreys was reappointed again as a Director. Matthew Thomas, Shannon Group CEO, has been co-opted to the board of the Chamber in line with the organisational by laws.
Limerick Chamber CEO Dr. James Ring was delighted to announce that Ken Johnson, Managing Partner PwC Midwest agreed to serve as President for 2017. Ken is an audit and advisory partner who leads PwC’s Midwest practice covering Limerick and Galway. He has significant experience in providing a range of audit and business advisory services to both multi-national and indigenous companies in the region.
Outgoing President Catherine Duffy, General Manager of Northern Trust one of the largest employers in the region served as President for two years. Catherine said that the highlight of her two year term was launching the Bicentennial book last year which was a major achievement. Cathal Treacy, immediate past President said that ‘Catherine provided fantastic stewardship throughout Limerick Chamber’s Bicentennial year and thanked her for the energy, time and commitment she gave throughout her term.
The Chamber also extended a thank you to those Directors who retired during the year, for their dedication and enthusiasm in serving the business community.
