Limerick Chamber Skillnet are delighted to sponsor Limerick Mental Health Association’s upcoming business breakfast taking place in Castletroy Park Hotel 19th May. Join us for an interactive panel discussion which will flow between sport, business, and volunteering as we explore how important it is to stay connected in our communities at all lifestages to look after our mental wellness.
Ian Hackett Manager of LMHA said,
“We want to have a conversation to remind us all how important being part of a community is. We believe this can have a positive impact on mental health through social connection in business, sport and wider community activities”.
LMHA is for people who are having difficulty coping, are under the care of the mental health services, or are experiencing social isolation or loneliness as a result of a mental health illness. They provide qualified peer support, signposting, wellness activities and programmes. They also provide a safe non-judgemental space for people who are managing their illnesses. LMHA operate a walk-in policy and align with the “no wrong door method” which means if they can’t provide the right service for you they will signpost you to the right agency.
This fundraiser will raise awareness across Limerick of their supports, while also raising funding to expand their services for the wider Limerick community.
The panel of speakers include:
- David Gillick: former Irish International Athlete and Olympian and mental health advocate & regular media commentator,
- Linda Ledger: CEO of St Munchin’s Community Centre,
- Tommy Barrett: Limerick Treaty United Football Manager
- Dr. Lisa O’Rourke Scott: Chair of Limerick Mental Health Association and Head of Psychology at TUS
Michael MacCurtain Limerick Chamber Skillnet Network Manager said:
“LMHA have brought together a super panel of speakers who understand the challenges of mental health. Upskilling can have a positive impact on personal growth for any individual, feeling valued and good work life balance are just some ways employees are attracted to organisations across industry. Limerick Chamber Skillnet are delighted to support LMHA breakfast in having the conversation, raising the awareness, and demonstrating that a learning environment can support positive wellness culture”.
