AgriGuardian
Best Emerging Business 2022

AgriGuardian is on a mission to save lives on farms. Farming is the most dangerous industry in Ireland and across the EU. In Ireland over 50% of all workplace fatalities are related to Agriculture but agriculture only accounts for 5% of the workforce. We are launching a product that is aimed to protect the most vulnerable farm goers (Children and over 65’s) who account for 53% of all farm fatalities.

Our safety features are delivered through users smartphones or for those not of smartphone age through our AgriGuardian smartwatch. This makes adopting our solution almost frictionless for the customer.

Our solution protects in 3 ways: 1)- Alert Zones – Areas on a farm can mapped and marked dangerous or safe (slurry pits, dangerous animal locations etc) if someone enters or leaves these zones guardians are alerted. 2)- Proximity warnings work by alerting a guardian is a vulnerable farm goer comes within 40m of them which is especially useful in high noise environments such as machinery operation. 3)- Anchoring works by alerting guardian is the vulnerable user strays more than 40m away from them. This feature is useful when bringing very young children on the farm to educate them to the dangers.

AgriGuardian has been in development for over 2 years and along the way have won various start up awards. The founding team are both Engineers and James the CEO is owner of his family dairy farm in county Waterford.
