Limerick Chamber hosted a business breakfast in Dell on 1 October where two highly regarded social media experts shared their insights and best practices for incorporating social media into a company’s internal processes and marketing.
Stephen Jio, Global Alienware Creative Manager and Social Media and Community Professional for Dell, and Krishna De, an award winning digital communications, online publicity and content marketing strategist and mentor, spoke at the event, which was sponsored by Dell and organised by the Chamber as part of Limerick Business Week.
Stephen Jio, spoke about how Dell uses social media to connect the business for Dell. Social media is at the heart of product R&D, employee engagement, external communications, marketing, customer service and sharing their expertise.
Krishna De highlighted the increased importance of visual content marketing and provided practical tips for integrating social media platforms including Pinterest, Instagram and Google Plus into a company’s marketing plan to build visibility for products and services and attract more leads and sales.
Both speakers highlighted the need for having a plan, ensuring content has a value and the importance of focusing on monitoring and measurement.
Maria Kelly, Limerick Chamber CEO, said, “Limerick Chamber is focused on organising events that are topical and relevant to our members. Given the calibre of our two speakers today, I am confident attendees have walked away with plenty of practical tips on how to build their online presence. An online survey of 70% of the registered attendees showed that only 40% of companies measure and evaluate their use of social media. 38% of companies have implemented social media policies and only 31% of organisations monitor online conversations about their companies or people. This highlights the importance of this morning’s topic to businesses in the region.”
“We are also keen to facilitate sharing of best practice, business insights and networking opportunities amongst our members – particularly between large multinationals like Dell and our large membership base of SME’s. There is no doubt that this has been achieved today.” Ms Kelly concluded.
Limerick Chamber will be organising similar events in the future. Visit www.limerickchamber.ie for more.
