Limerick Chamber welcomes Eli Lilly Announcement of a further $1 Billion Expansion of Limerick Facility Doubling Investment and Creating 150 New Jobs

Limerick Chamber welcomed the announcement by Eli Lilly of a major $1 billion expansion of its Limerick facility. This significant investment will double the company’s previous commitment to Raheen, bringing the total investment in Limerick to $2 billion and creating an additional 150 jobs. This expansion underscores Eli Lilly’s confidence in Limerick and the broader Mid-West region

The new investment will further support the implementation of cutting-edge technologies, including machine learning, artificial intelligence, and advanced robotics, all aimed at ensuring precise and efficient medicine production.

The expansion will also increase Lilly’s workforce in Limerick to 450 employees. The new positions will include roles for engineers, scientists, quality assurance experts, and operations staff, further strengthening the local economy and contributing to regional growth.

Michelle Gallagher, Limerick Chamber CEO, welcomed yesterday’s announcement stating: “This expansion announcement is a huge endorsement for the region and is a vote of confidence in Limerick’s potential. Eli Lilly’s commitment to investing an additional $1 billion is a clear indication of their long-term dedication to both the region and the pharmaceutical industry in Ireland. The progress made by Dave Riordan and his team over the past 18 months has been incredible, and we look forward to the Limerick facility playing its part in producing solutions for the company’s Alzheimer’s disease treatments and other biologic medicines by 2026.”

The project is subject to planning approval, with a formal application to be submitted to the Limerick City and County Council in the near future.
