Limerick Chamber Welcomes Mairead Connolly, Partner at PwC, as President for 2025

Limerick Chamber is pleased to announce that Mairead Connolly, Tax Partner at PwC, has been appointed as the President of Limerick Chamber for 2025. This marks an important transition in leadership as Mairead succeeds outgoing President Noel Gavin, Senior Vice President at Northern Trust.

The role of President is a voluntary one that requires dedication, leadership, and a deep commitment to the business community and members the Chamber represents. Outgoing president Noel Gavin carried out this role with distinction, working closely with the Chamber’s board, team, and stakeholders to strengthen its position as a key driver of economic growth, policy advocacy, and business collaboration in the region. His leadership has ensured the Chamber continues to be a vital force in advancing the interests of businesses in the Mid-West region and oversaw the change in guard of CEO at Limerick Chamber.

Ready to build on the strong foundation laid by her predecessors, Mairead steps into this role with a proven track record of leadership and an unwavering commitment to the business community.  She has served on the board of Limerick Chamber since 2020, including on the Executive Committee and chairing Governance & Nominations. Mairead is well-equipped to support Limerick Chamber as the leading business representative body in the region, in its continuing drive to foster success for the 400 strong membership, encompassing large and small businesses.   She is proud to carry on the tradition of consistently influencing positive change, which the Chamber has led for over 200 years in the region.

With the support of the Chamber team, an engaged board, and the collective strength of our members, the Chamber continues to be a powerful advocate for business. We look forward to an exciting year ahead under Mairead’s leadership, ensuring that Limerick Chamber remains a place where businesses not only belong but thrive.

“It is both an honour and a privilege to step into the role of President at Limerick Chamber,” said Mairead. “The Chamber has long been a longstanding driving force which has united our business community since 1815, having created a network where members are supported, encouraged to collaborate, innovate, and champion each other’s success. As a collective voice, we work to shape policies that secure necessary key investments which ensure the long-term prosperity of our region. As a Limerick native, I am committed to building on the established legacy passed on from Noel and our predecessors, and driving my vision as President, where the Limerick Chamber will  continue to be a powerful advocate, calling for action to lever the assets in the region as a catalyst for regional and national growth in areas including renewable energy, infrastrucure and the vibrancy of the city centre.”

During his tenure, the outgoing Limerick Chamber President Noel Gavin, Senior Vice President, Northern Trust championed regional growth through advocacy on energy, housing, healthcare, and policing while also driving key policy initiatives like the Rental Barometer and pre-budget submission. Noel played a pivotal role in advancing the Shannon Estuary’s renewable energy potential and launched the Limerick Gift Card an initiative designed to support and boost local business. His leadership has strengthened business engagement, influenced election policy priorities, and culminated in honouring Milford Care Centre with the President’s Award for their outstanding contribution to the community.

Commenting on his tenure, Noel said “Serving as President of Limerick Chamber has been an immense honour, I am very grateful for the support and encouragement of our members, board, and community. Together, we have championed policies that drive growth, advocated for a stronger region, and reinforced the power of collaboration in shaping Limerick’s future. As I step aside, I have full confidence in Mairead Connolly’s leadership, her vision, commitment, and passion for Limerick will guide the Chamber to even greater heights. To our members and the people of Limerick, I encourage you to continue working together, challenging where needed, and ensuring that our region is represented and remains at the forefront harnessing opportunity and progress.”

As we embark on this next chapter under Mairead Connolly’s leadership, we remain committed to our mission to advocate for businesses, their economic environment and ensuring a vibrant and connected business community.

Mairead’s presidency marks a renewed opportunity for businesses across the region to engage, collaborate, and shape the future of Limerick’s economic landscape.
