9 June 2014: Helen O’Donnell, Chair of LCBA@theChamber and Director of Limerick Chamber, will represent Chambers Ireland on a National Retail Forum run by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation.
The Retail Consultation Forum has been established by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation to provide a platform for a structured engagement between the Retail sector and relevant Government Departments/bodies. Its purpose is to allow key issues of relevance to the sector to be discussed with a view to identifying practical actions which could be taken by government, or by industry itself, to support the sector.
On her selection Helen O’Donnell said, “The retail sector plays a significant role in the Irish economy in terms of its contribution to GDP and employment. However, the sector has been badly hit by the economic crisis and experienced considerable job losses. We need to find solutions, nationally and locally, that will help the recovery of the retail sector and our city centres in Ireland.”
The first meeting of the Forum will be held in Dublin Castle on Monday 9 June.
