Limerick Chamber has welcomed today’s (02/04/14) Exchequer Returns which indicate that tax revenues are up 4.7% year on year, but cautioned that now is not the time for complacency.
Speaking this afternoon, Limerick Chamber Economist Dr. Órlaith Borthwick said “An increase in tax revenue and a reduction in Government spending are figures to be welcomed. However, while these figures show a positive start to 2014, we must be cautious. Now is not yet the time to consider reducing taxes. Instead we should continue to support business growth, job creation, foster the domestic economy and continue to reduce the cost of Government to strengthen our economic recovery.”
