Jobs boost on the double for Limerick

“Regeneron Pharmaceuticals are creating 200 jobs and the government have launched a Regional Action Plan which envisages the creation of an additional 23,000 jobs for the Limerick region by 2020. That’s a good news day” commented Dr. Órlaith Borthwick, Deputy CEO and Director of Policy at Limerick Chamber.

Speaking about the good news morning (19th Oct 2015), Dr. Órlaith Borthwick noted that “Regeneron are an exciting and innovative company. In December 2013 the company initially announced a $300m investment with 300 jobs for their Limerick operation ; today’s announcement that they are already expanding with a further  $350m investment and creation of 200 additional jobs is a phenomenal achievement, both for the company and the Limerick region.

“It was exciting to hear the company talk about the welcome extended to them by the Limerick community and how the talent which is being produced at our third level institutes is key in enabling this expansion” continued Dr. Borthwick.

Commenting on the launch of the Mid-West regional Action Plan for Jobs, which a number of Ministers launched in LIT this afternoon Dr Borthwick said “Government are seeking to maximise the distinctive strengths of each regions to build on opportunities and maximise economic returns. Limerick and the greater region are ideally positioned to utilise cluster strengths in the aviation, life sciences, financial service and agri-tech sectors as Limerick gains a reputation nationally and internationally as a collaborative community with a ‘can-do’ attitude” concluded Dr. Borthwick
