What did winning the award mean for the team at HOMS Solicitors?

Winning the award provided a platform to highlight the accomplishments of our hard-working team and gave recognition to the success of our talent development and workplace wellness initiatives.  Some of our other projects were in their early stages and the award gave us the confidence to push forward on our journey as we strive to be a great place to work. We are delighted to report that HOMS Solicitors have continued this progress by launching new initiatives, improving existing ones and as a result, we have enjoyed many more achievements in the areas of talent development and workplace wellness.

Talent Development

We are delighted to congratulate our latest graduates from the Smart Choice Leadership Programme run by Ingenium Training & Consultancy in partnership with University of Limerick. We continue to focus on developing our future talent through our Graduate Internship and Trainee Solicitor Programmes, offering opportunities to progress within the firm and enjoy sustainable and successful careers at HOMS Solicitors. Our education assistance programme continues to further develop and add to employees’ qualifications and our internal Continuing Professional Development training scheme is going from strength to strength each year.

Workplace Wellness

Since our focus on the workplace wellness of our employees was recognised by Limerick Chamber, we have we extended our goals of improving workplace wellness to the business community. All staff really got on board with the HOMS Solicitors Fittest Company Challenge and this year we launched a Wellness App, which we provided pro bono to local companies, as well as our own employees, and for us all to engage in a friendly fitness competition. Participants logged their training and exercise over the 9 weeks leading up to the Great Limerick Run and gained points for their company on a leaderboard.  Staff across 20 local businesses used the app to access exercise and nutritional tips, weekly fitness schedules, share pictures of activities, and even log double points for exercising with “those who matter most to you”.  The healthy, family-oriented competition was an exciting challenge for all and a big win for wellness, all while raising funds for Temple Street University Children’s Hospital. HOMS Solicitors were pleased to win first place in the medium sized company category.

This summer we also successfully launched Together – The HOMS Solicitors People Awards. Staff nominated their fellow colleagues to reward and recognise them for achievements that reflected our core values and mission statement. We had our first awards evening at our Summer Event in June and all winners were delighted to be celebrated. Linda McAuliffe was one of the eight recipients who received an award. She was recognised for her hard work and dedication in improving the wellness of all participants through the HOMS Solicitors Fittest Company Challenge and app.

We are continuing to focus on workplace wellness in our efforts to support the community in which we operate. We took part in the Shannon Airport Runway Run in aid of Clare Crusaders and Share a Dream, we continue to support Pieta House, and will participate again this year in the Thomond Park Sleepout to raise funds for the Simon Community.  We have learned that one of the most effective ways of improving wellness and boosting staff morale is by helping others.

“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give” – Winston Churchill

We wish to take this opportunity to wish this year’s entrants for the Limerick Chamber Business Awards the very best of luck, from all staff and management at HOMS Solicitors.
