As part of the Mid–West Action Plan For Jobs 2015-2017; Limerick Chamber is delighted to announce the establishment of a greater Mid-West Freight Forum. This has been identified as one of the key action items in the Mid – West action plan for jobs. The goal of this forum is to identify current and future issues in the sector, ensure the supply chain logistics sector is adequately Brexit proofed and to identify any future skills and training requirement.
Limerick Chamber has collaborated with the other Chambers in the greater Mid-West region, including Thurles, Clonmel, Tralee, Killarney, Ennis and Shannon Chambers. The initial launch event for the Mid-West Freight Forum is scheduled for Wednesday the 12th of April next in Limerick Chamber 96 O’Connell St. This event will commence at 2pm. Paul Davison (MTCP MRTPI MILT) Principal Consultant in Freight and Logistics for AECOM, who produced the initial WEASTflows report, will introduce the concepts of Freight Forums and their advantages as per his experiences. Subsequently a representative for the Shannon Group will outline their short to medium term goals and a spokesperson for the Shannon Foynes Port will also present a short presentation on what they perceive as the short to medium term future for their businesses. Finally there will be a presentation on sustainability and carbon reduction from the SEAI. This is a free event from Limerick Chamber.
