Limerick Chamber has announced an information briefing session for West Limerick and North Kerry business owners, focusing on the opportunities for Agri-Tourism development in the region.
The event to be held on the 29th of April at 2.00pm in the Longcourt Hotel in Newcastlewest, is entitled “Agri-Tourism Opportunities” and is being delivered in association with Chamber SME partner, AIB.
The keynote speaker Minister Patrick O’Donovan will open the event and will share his insights into Tourism development in Ireland, followed by AIB sectoral experts from Agriculture and Tourism, and Margaret Jenkins, Wild Atlantic Way, Failte Ireland.
Tadhg Buckley, AIB said “Farming has undergone substantial changes in the last decade, most notably in terms of technological advancements and the impact of the removal of quotas. Our sectoral team has insights into emerging revenue streams within the agri-business sector and agri- tourism is one of the most exciting prospects that we want to tell people about.”
MC on the day, Dee Ryan, Limerick Chamber Chief Executive said “Limerick Chamber has developed this innovative information sharing event to encourage businesses to make the most of growing tourism opportunities in the west Limerick region.
Our goal in Limerick Chamber is to help businesses to thrive and so we have pulled these experts together to share their knowledge on how attendees might capitalise on the increasing popularity of nearby tourist routes the Wild Atlantic Way, Shannon Estuary way and Greenway.
Following on from an initiative by Minister Patrick O’Donovan, Limerick City and County Council have recently launched a strategy to develop tourism across Limerick city and county which envisages that the total number of visitors to Limerick will reach 1.1 million per annum, generating more than €360 million in revenue and creating 1,500 new jobs by 2023.
Limerick Tourism Development Strategy 2019 – 2023 has identified Limerick’s unique position on the west coast of Ireland and as a gateway to the Wild Atlantic Way as central to developing the sector.
