Lilly investment ‘major endorsement of Limerick as European biopharma hub’

Reacting to the announcement by Lilly of €400 million investment in a high spec manufacturing facility, Limerick Chamber CEO, Dee Ryan said: “What a refreshing start to the year. Good news of a prestigious employer, bringing high quality jobs to Limerick and making a huge commitment to the region that should give others the confidence to do the same”

Welcoming the news on behalf of the business community she continued “Manufacturing is our largest employment sector in the Mid West and one we are very proud of. Credit is due to the IDA, Limerick City and Council, TUS Midlands Mid West and University of Limerick on all their work to ensure that conditions are right for this kind of investment.

Our companies tell us that it’s our strategic location next to port and airport facilities, our pipeline of talent from our institutes of learning and the relative affordability of Limerick that makes us their choice.”

Concluding she said “If I was advising someone filling in a CAO form this week, I’d recommend taking a careful look at the type of roles and qualifications in demand in biopharmas, because undoubtably there are fantastic career opportunities in this growing hub in Limerick.”
