Three new directors were appointed to the Board of Limerick Chamber at its Annual General Meeting on 13 February 2014. David Jeffreys, Managing Director of Action Point Technology Group, Colm O’Brien, Managing Director of Carambola Kidz and Helen O’Donnell, Director of Dolmen Catering and Chair of the Limerick City Business Association, will take up their positions immediately. They will replace outgoing directors Jim Kenny, Padraic Frawley and Karl Daly.
Liam Dwan, General Manager of Brown Thomas, has been re-appointed.
Welcoming the new directors to the Board, Dr Fergal Barry, President of Limerick Chamber said, “Our new directors bring a wide range of skills and experience and will greatly strengthen the Chamber Board as we seek to enhance Limerick Chamber’s offering and relevance to businesses in the region. On behalf of the board I would like to express our sincere thanks to outgoing directors for their commitment and contribution made during their term in office.”
Addressing members at the AGM, Dr Barry noted how Limerick Chamber’s ongoing policy and lobbying work is starting to reap rewards:
“Years of continuous effort (and in some cases it goes back to 20 years of effort) are starting to pay off. Limerick Chamber ensured that Limerick and the region remained constantly on the radar of our national decision makers and, for the first time in many years, we are now seeing new investment and jobs come into the region.”
“Many things we have been pushing for over the years are starting to come together now and collaboration and partnership in the region has never been stronger. It is great to see Limerick Chamber’s hard work being validated and it all bodes very well for 2014 and beyond. We need to ensure the focus on our region is maintained – I believe we will soon see movement on the 2030 Masterplan. Limerick Chamber will continue to focus on areas that impact on our member’s competitiveness, expand their capabilities and lower the cost of doing business,” he concluded.
