New Directors for Limerick Chamber Board

Honorary Life Membership Presented to Tadhg Kearney

13 February 2015: Three new directors were appointed to the Board of Limerick Chamber at its Annual General Meeting on 12 February 2015.  Noelette Ensko, HR Director of Vistakon, George Kennedy, Senior Associate at Holmes O’Malley Sexton and Fiona Connolly, General Manager of Lyons of Limerick, will take up their positions immediately.  They will replace outgoing directors Gordon Kearney, Mícheál O’Laoide and Gary Rowan.

Sean Lally, General Manager of the Limerick Strand Hotel, has been re-appointed.

The AGM took place at the Hunt Museum and was sponsored by Dolmen Cafe.

The new directors were welcomed by Limerick Chamber President, Cathal Treacy, who said the appointment of the new directors would benefit the Chamber and the region:   “Our new directors will bring not only bring a wide range of skills and experience, but fresh and new insights on how we can further strengthen the impact of our work.”

“On behalf of the board I would also like to sincerely thank retiring board members Gordon Kearney, Mícheál O’Laoide and Gary Rowan for their years of service on the Limerick Chamber board,” he continued.

Addressing over 60 members at the AGM, Cathal Treacy reflected on the Chambers work in 2014 saying, “Limerick Chamber has worked hard to ensure that Limerick and the region remained constantly on the radar of our national decision makers and we are now seeing significant increase in jobs announcements and investment.”

“Limerick Chamber is the leading business representative organisation in the region and I would encourage members to be actively involved in the Chamber as businesses can really gain a competitive advantage – whether it’s by making connections with other businesses in the area, winning new business, expanding know-how from workshops or working together on common issues.”

Looking forward to 2015 as Limerick Chamber celebrates its 200th Anniversary, Mr Treacy noted, “As we move into our 3rd century, the future is bright for our Chamber and our region.  The economy is turning. We have a new CEO in place.  A new strategy will be developed to ensure we strengthen and shape the business landscape of our region and we remain relevant with an expanded and engaged membership base.”

The award of Honorary Life Membership of Limerick Chamber was presented to Tadhg Kearney.

“Tadhg has enjoyed a distinguished career spanning over a number of decades as a contributor, advocate and promoter – not just of Limerick Chamber – but the economic vitality of this region,” said Cathal Treacy on presenting the award.

To mark the 200th Anniversary of its founding, Limerick Chamber re-instated the award of Honorary Life Membership to honour persons of distinction who have made a significant contribution to the trade and commerce of Limerick or Limerick Chamber, over and above their normal profession.
