Ulster Bank to sponsor Limerick Chamber Autumn Business Lunch
21 August 2015: Limerick-woman Josephine Feehily, Chairperson of the new Policing Authority, will be the keynote speaker at Limerick Chambers Autumn Business Lunch on Friday 25 September at Thomond Park Stadium. The lunch, which is sponsored by Ulster Bank, is the next key event in the Chamber’s 200th anniversary programme.
Formally Chairman of the Office of the Revenue Commissioners, Ms Feehily was appointed by the government in November 2014 as the first chairperson of the new independent Policing Authority. (see more details below)

About the keynote speaker:
Josephine Feehily hails from Clarina, Co Limerick and is a past pupil of Presentation Convent.
She joined the civil service straight from secondary school and achieved her third level qualifications through night study. She is a graduate of the National College of Ireland and Trinity College Dublin.
Having worked in a range of positions in the Department of Social Welfare and the Pensions Board, Ms Feehily joined Revenue in 1993 as head of Human Resources and also served as Accountant-General of Revenue.
In 2008 she was appointed Chairman of the Office of the Revenue Commissioners. She was the first woman to hold that position in Ireland. Ms Feehily’s board-level executive responsibilities included policy and legislation, tax collection, strategy and organisation development, large cases division and customs service.
She was elected as Chair of the World Customs Organisation, an alliance of 179 countries that shapes international customs policy and trade in June 2011. She held that role for three years.
In November 2012, she was selected as chair of the OECD Forum for Tax Administration.
In November 2014, the government announced the appointment of Ms Feehily as the first chairperson of the new independent Policing Authority. She is charged with establishing the Policing Authority, which will bring a further layer of public accountability to the administration of policing services while also providing a new engine to drive reforms of the policing system and practices to ensure that An Garda Síochána is fit to meet the ongoing and emerging challenges of 21st century policing.
