Chamber presses for operational details necessary to give members certainty

Dear member,

Yesterday the Government announced the July Job Stimulus package (view here) a broad range of measures to build on earlier supports.

This morning I commenced dialog with the responsible government departments to press for operational detail of initiatives ASAP so that you can have certainty on what you will be eligible for and can then plan for the period ahead.

Key measures for members include

  • Announcement of an Employment Wage Support Scheme to succeed the Temporary Wage Subsidy Scheme.  Our understanding is that it will be banded with a maximum flat rate of €203/employee. Again, it will be self-assessment of eligibility and evidence will be required of a minimum of 30% drop in turnover year on year.
  • The extension and broadening of the Restart Grant
  • Extension of the rates waiver
  • Investment in training, education and skills

The Chamber will circulate further detail to you as it is made available, and together with specialists, will bring you webinars to assist your understanding of how the schemes will run.

Your feedback on the schemes, as the details emerge, will be critical to allow us the lobby for changes and, in some sectors, further support.

Please feel free to contact me directly dryan@limerickchamber.ie or 087 2930033 with queries.

Best,
