Let’s Get Celebrating! Limerick Chamber and TUS Launch the 2022 Regional Business Awards

Mid West Businesses across all sectors invited to enter to showcase their accomplishments

Thursday 23rd June 2022: Limerick Chamber has launched the Limerick Chamber Regional Business Awards sponsored by TUS Midlands Midwest. The Awards are open to businesses of all sizes and sectors across Limerick, Clare, Tipperary, and North Kerry, with no requirement to be a Chamber member. 8 Award categories  were revealed to the crowd of over 100 business influencers who attended the breakfast launch event at the Castletroy Park Hotel today.

Speaking on behalf of the Awards Sponsor TUS Midlands, Gillian Barry, Head of Innovation & Enterprise commented on the opportunity for organisations to celebrate the efforts of their staff, promoting retention, raise their profile, expand their network, and leverage the accolade for customer growth and as a tool to attract talent. She said “We are delighted to be the main sponsor of these awards, our 11th year. TUS has long been associated with the awards and the Chamber. We recognise our vital role in the region, and these awards offer us further opportunities to deepen our connections with our community of stakeholders. We are incredibly excited to hear more from the companies in the region doing great work right here on our doorstep. These awards recognise and celebrate the strength and ingenuity of the region’s business community. They also offer organisations a platform to share their story, vision and success with their existing and future customers, employees, partners, and investors.”

Donal Cantillon of Focus Capital Partners, President of Limerick Chamber spoke to the importance of acknowledging the ground-breaking work carried out in the Midwest. Mr Cantillon expressed the pride he has for the resilient and adaptable capabilities of businesses particularly amid the significant disruptions of recent years. He said

You need to see it to believe it, and nothing beats having an example locally of a home-grown success to inspire greater ambition in our business community.  The goal of the Awards is to offer members and non-members an opportunity to share their story and to raise the profile of their businesses. There has never been a more important time to acknowledge and reward the accomplishments of your teams.”

Limerick Chamber Chief Executive Dee Ryan said: “We are here to shine a light on your achievements, because we are very proud of them, and they are inspiring. None more inspiring than the company of the year. It’s the one category that you can’t enter. I don’t envy the judges tasked with whittling it down to who they are going to give that honour to. The standard is very high.”

On hand at the launch to provide that inspiration and encourage businesses to throw their hat in the ring was Patrick Byrnes, CEO of Croom Precision Medical, winner of 2021 Business of the Year.

He told attendees of the Awards win resulting in greater profile for Croom Precision Medical and the pioneering work they carry out in the medical and aerospace sector. Mr Byrnes also stated the Limerick Chamber Regional Business Award win undoubtably assisted him to attract new talent, while also acknowledging the talent of his existing team members who he credited as the driving force behind their organisational success. Croom Precision Medical has grown immensely throughout a short period growing from a staff of 22 people in 2018 when Byrnes became CEO, to a total of 127 people today and an exciting expansion announcement to come.

The event was rounded out with the big reveal of this year’s 8 Awards categories and attendees were told it is now easier than ever to apply using video recording as an entry and the shortest application in the past 11 years of the Limerick Chamber Regional Business. A short investment in time could reap significant benefits in return.

A special mention and thank you was given to the Independent judging panel made up of Liam Woulfe, Grassland Agro, Suzy O’Keefe- Design and Crafts Council Ireland, Sean Lally- Woodstock Hotel, Tomás Sercovich-Business in the Community Ireland, Paul Shelly- Business Advisor & Non-Executive Director, all capably led and Chaired by Lorna Conn, CEO CPL.
