New programme launched to help business owners assess suitability of franchising

Is my business suited to Business Format Franchising?

4 January 2012 – The National Franchise Centre has launched a new programme called Franchise START for business owners who wish to assess the feasibility of scaling their existing business using a franchise model.

The 5 day training programme, which commences on 25 January on a part time basis, will enable participants to assess the cost of implementing a franchising process, system improvements, what franchising model suits their business and determine an action plan.

The successful and ethical franchising of any business requires careful planning. The cost and time involved in the process of franchising depends on the complexity of the business, the proposed system and the current position. This programme will help participants evaluate their current situation and what planning is required in areas such as intellectual property, the market, the systems, profitability etc.

Martina McGrath, NFC Centre Manager, noted “this programme helps to demystify the business format franchise concept, offering a true insight into the investment required in order to scale ones business. For some, franchising offers an excellent platform for expansion.  However, gaining a knowledge base to enter into this sphere knowingly can be an uphill and costly exercise. Franchise START is catered to those who need to determine their suitability to the model; in addition to those who need information on best practice and ethical operations.  We have had numerous queries regarding a programme of this nature, so I’m delighted that we can now offer Franchise START. It is a very positive way to enter into 2013 both for the NFC and those who engage with the programme.”
